Newborn Twins
These sweet girls recently celebrated their first birthday. Which made me nostalgic for all the days when our little ones are so very little. Meeting this family for photographs was a treat. We got together when Mama was pregnant for consultation, because I know how baby-brain can be easily overwhelmed by emotional swings of babies needing attention.
They wanted family photos that was authentic and not overly fussy. I said that I adore newborns, but I don’t arrive with a car fulled with baskets and faux fur blankets. Which is still beautiful, it’s just an entire skill set on its own to pose and arrange newborns into those tidy scenes. And I prefer babies being held in arms. Babies lying on a bedspread. Babies with their parents.
And we had a fun secret mission. Because she knew that she wanted to surprise him with a special Father’s Day portrait holding his baby girls. So we created the shot without telling him why we wanted him holding them just so :)
Super fun!
We did creative photos with my helper, Anika, by using the diffuser to shade their faces in the field. Then Anika stepped our to the frame so I could “paint” her out of the final image. Which created opportunities for laughing together as we staged these “effortless” photos. Families are always amazed to see how these photos look after a little polishing.
Then we went back inside for relaxed moments together.
I took photos of the girls’ room and space when I met the family before they were born, which meant this visit I got to spend all my attention documenting their little routines :)
We did have another fun quest capturing the girls’ little feet being held on their parent’s hands. It was way, way harder than we expected since they were waking up by that time :). We laughed a lot, though, having fun at the foibles of newborn twin photography :)
With babies, the days are long and the years are short. It’s a gift to know that these moments are documented as the girls grow. The biggest gift is the time we spend together :)
Wishing you a magical week with lots of together-time with people you love :)
