Welcome to your new favorite crime lab!
This pre-publication draft is for readers who love escapism, cozy vibes, and authentic disability representation.
This isn’t your average cozy mystery. Here, the main character is disabled, and she’s not just solving crimes, she’s adjusting to a life-altering diagnosis, pending one test result. She doesn't want to believe it's real, even as she faces rising challenges with her health.
Meet Raven Sunshine: a decorated forensic investigator with awards, a promising career, and a secret that upends her life. Leaving the high-tech city lab for a quaint, small-town crime lab, Raven is about to discover that having all the clues doesn’t mean you know all the answers.
Bringing this story to life has been pure joy, and I can’t wait to share it with you. If you love cozy mysteries, rural settings, flawed and relatable characters, and a generous helping of warm humor, you’re in the right place! 🕵️♀️
Cozy mysteries invite readers into comforting worlds where quirky, everyday heroes navigate intriguing puzzles in charming settings. These stories blend suspense and heart, delivering mysteries that skip the graphic details in favor of gentle suspense, subplots, and a strong sense of community. Cozy mysteries celebrate everyday heroes and the connections that make a town feel like home.
Thanks for cheering me on! Stay tuned for more updates as Raven and her friends tackle small-town secrets, fascinating cases, and all things cozy in their rural crime lab.
The cover is a deliberately janky creation I made with AI elements, and clip art, and limited editing. inspired by the kind you’d spot at the grocery store. The real triumph? I actually managed to write, and finish, a whole book last year!
Why am I sharing this for free? Because my main goal with Cozy Crime Lab was always to bring the story to people who needed it. People like me, who wanted to see their disabled experience reflected in a rich story, where disability isn’t the most interesting thing about a character. The story is currently out on submission, but I want readers to find the escapist representation I craved as a teen, young adult, and adult. I want more books with disabled characters to be available to everyone who needs them.
And I know the financial strain of disability personally. I’m sharing this draft with a small, trusted group as part of building my readership and community. I want it to be accessible. The published, final version will have new edits, and be available for purchase on a future date.
There's a wonderful opportunity for publishing to feature more stories by disabled authors. By sharing this draft now, I hope to reach readers who are looking for comfort, hope, and representation, as a draft, until we all celebrate when it's officially published. The journey is real. Welcome aboard!
I’ve faced many of the same challenges as Raven on her journey with disability. I live with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a hereditary neuropathy that causes challenges with nerves, weakness, fatigue, and plenty more symptoms. It currently has no treatment and no cure. And it's degenerative. My hope is for readers seeking CMT or disability representation to find comfort and community together. We all have different journeys, and we all struggle with acceptance, limits, and self-perception.

The checkout process will ask for your billing address, simply to verify that you are a person. It’s not stored anywhere. Thank you for supporting the adventures!
Happy reading!
