It's Been a Long Minute

Goodness, time can slip like unspooling yarn, or dry sand, as we’re looking in other directions. We can stand in our lives and it swirls around us and we look up and days have become years behind us. Which isn’t a terrible thing. We all have times when we need to look one foot in front of the other without contemplating the larger-life implications.

More on those just get through this challenge, and the next and the next, hopefully soon.

Meanwhile, this time of year I do contemplate the larger-life decisions. One of those choices is a word that can give the year a little inspiration and intention. The word can be aspirational or simple. I’ve used the word “Play” and “Balance” before.

This year is a moment to stand still and ask myself, “What is the word for my hopes and plans this year?”

I thought of intention, and discover, and inspiration.

My hope is to find projects and adventures that bring joy. “To lean into joy,” like my counselor said. And, when I asked my daughter about what word is good for me, she said enjoy. To enjoy myself again after tough medical treatment. Enjoy creativity and making things. Enjoy the small moments. Enjoy sharing stories again. And, with me thinking about joy last night, her word felt like a puzzle piece. Enjoy.

With that, I add a few photos that I enjoy :)

Do you consider a word of the year? I find that it supports intentions rather than resolutions. I hope my word helps me with choices throughout the year. I certainly welcome being able to enjoy simple things.
