Wizard World Sacramento

Joining all the adventurous people at Wizard World ComicCon is a treat.

This year, Anika decided on a Katara cosplay. We created the elements with a little creative resourcefulness. The gloves, especially, were part of our problem solving puzzles. We ended up buying a pair of new blue socks, and a blue shirt with stretchy fabric at the thrift store. A little cutting the shirt into strips to wrap around the socks, and, hurrah, custom Katara gloves. She also made the necklace using sculpy, acrylic paint, and a ribbon. I’ll need to create a post just to show details of her cosplay.

As for Wizard World, by now we’ve figured out a few techniques that make the show even more fun. We browse the show schedule before leaving the house. They do provide opportutnies to check schedules once you arrive, but having a goal or two helps make sure that we don’t miss anything important by accident. About twenty minutes before the panel we’re interested in attending begins, we start figuring out how to find the room or space. Everyone’s happy to give pointers.

One of our favorites this year was cosplay photography locations with Captain Kaycee Cosplay. She had a fantastic cosplay with a wig that was simply divine. Her pointers for making the most of different locations prompted a fantastic discussion.

Another of our favorite quests at Wizard World is looking at the interesting collectables and art and quirky treasures that range from Pops to comics to custom carved pumpkins to toys. We enjoyed the custom Borderlands weapons.

Our very favorite, you can probably guess, is cosplay. The creativity and sense of fun is wonderful. Mariocart as a toddler in a remote control car, yes please! Everyone contributes to the charm of the day.

One new feature that we enjoyed for a break was the gaming area. Computers and consoles were open for anyone to sit and try new games or challenge friends. We actually spent more time as some of the games offered hilarious matchups that the kids wanted to try again and again.

As always, we recommend the cosplay shows, especially the kids cosplay show. Kato Kaylen hosts the event, keeping everyone involved and laughing. The kids put on a fantastic show.

The entire day creates epic memories for the entire family.

The great news is that Wizard World is coming to the Bay Area. Click here for information. We’ll see you there!
