Real Life in September

September stands with one foot in summer and the other in fall. Days tumble from endless sparkling summer swimming to settled routines of school days. September is a month of change. One one hand, we embrace the adventures. New teachers! School friends! And also few farewells. Water is too cold. Mornings are chilly. We tuck summer memories into our favorite family stories. Our last day of summer vacation, we visited a new river spot with Grandma. We had be Team Tie Dye of course since we had dyed the shirts a few days before. At the end of the day, I asked for a Team Summer Portrait. Sometimes I get the sweet, sentimental kids. Other times I get this.

September still has days closer to summer. Even when the water gets chilly from overnight temperature dips, we find fun in the pool every now and again.

One of our adventures in September was visiting the AnimeCon in Sacramento. Anika created a unipig costume by combining her Kigarumi with a unicorn headband :)

After school, we found ways to unwind. That usually involved mess. Which we love.

At a local gallery opening, I got to teach a little history while they interacted with the art.

"Why do the headphones have a cord? How do I dance with a cord? How ridiculous!"

Oh, the perspective of their generation! I love seeing the world through their eyes.

Now we have Halloween decorations everywhere and school is routine and we actually wear sweatshirts in the morning. And a hat every now and again! We remember that we actually love fall. Thanks for the memories, September!
