Thanks, Disney!

I wanted to send a thank you out to the Disney parks for their Give-A-Day-Get-a-Day program, here.  I figured that we would not be able to participate, because going out to a jobsite somewhere to volunteer is just not possible for me.  I checked anyway.  And sure enough, there are tons of opportunities for creative volunteering.  We made blankets for kids who are in need, in hospitals or foster homes.Don't worry, the machine is unplugged. :)  No babies were harmed in the making of these blankets.

We sewed our blankets for the Binky Patrol in Lincoln.  And while I knew it would be a rewarding experience, I underestimated how much it would mean to Anika, and even myself.  Giving is huge.  Some days I feel like a charity case myself. So it's great to feel empowered.  To feel helpful.

We're still waiting to see how the whole ticket part plays out, but at this point that hardly matters anymore.  The reward was really in the doing.

So thank you, Disney, for inspiring one million people to go out of their comfort zone and give to the community.  Our family will be making more blankets in the future!
