The Gothic Tea Party

Would be be interested in a tea party in the woods? A tea party with gothic treats?

Why, yes, yes we would enjoy a tea party in the woods. And thank you for inviting us. BriMcki Photography organized this photoshoot. Stylized Theme Sessions are her inspiration. She noticed every detail, from the dresses to the location to the custom labels on the "beverages". Her baking company, Three Gingers, created decadent treats.

Trees arced overhead and leaves ruffled in the breeze. And it seemed possible to step into other worlds, for just a little while. The girls laughed and took selfies. Then, once they joined the scene at the table, they became guests as a tea party in Wonderland. The inspiration taking photos like these that these photos are not about our normal days at all. I would have loved to do photoshoots like this when I was a teen. In fact, I think we set a few up with a friend in Photography class :)

The property also had a wonderful old shed that leaned into itself, the doorway keened to one side. We created stories as we stood beside the peeling paint walls about these tea party guests in an other-world with broken down homes. All the girls chatted about their characters and stories. The photoshoot became more than a photoshoot. It became a story where they all had contributions.

Anika and I have a slideshow movie in the works with the story we dreamed up for her through the day. Bri's attention to detail carried over into outfits and the bows in their hair. Even the sugar cubes were little skulls. The day brought beautiful scenes, lovely unconventional portraits, and laughter. We look forward to the next stylized themed shoot.

I am creating more than one post because after the tea party and visiting the crooked house, we got to take photos with ballgowns. Yes, gothic themed ball gowns as the sun set and clouds scattered across the sky. Those need a post of their own.

For now, join the tea party. It's delightful here. Just avoid the arsenic and cloning potion (more on that soon)...

We all need to step into other worlds every once in awhile. Thank you, Brianna, for inviting us to tea!
