First Friday Art Walk

Nevada City knows how to throw a party. The first Friday of the month, artists and vendors, stores and musicians, performers and galleries create a celebration of art. Wandering around is a treat!

We visited Kial James and Nevada City Scenic's photography on display in the Earth Store. His images of Nevada County are right at home among the crystals and nature-themed lamps. Follow his stunning images on Instagram and Facebook

Then we wandered down the street to the outdoor music concert. The light angled just perfect to alight on a street performer and his crystal ball. He was amazing! I chatted with him and his girlfriend. They are traveling throughout the summer by selling beadwork and street performing. They were falling in love with Nevada City while they visited, though. We know the feeling.

I couldn't help but notice Kyle's colorful paintings. He painted a geometric dome while answering questions. He has a background in anime and animation, so he saw his landscapes as movie sets. The melting of fantasy into reality is fascinating. The paintings evoke stories for sure. A very different perspective on familiar landscapes like the Highway 49 bridge. You can find him on Instagram.

I find familiar friends and new adventures every time I visit downtown. This time, I got to see a bride and groom stopping traffic for their portraits (they moved quickly).

Another fun evening in Nevada City!

Dusk in Nevada City is magical. Summer is a favorite season in town. Even for Fairies :)

The Art Walk will be happening through the summer. Follow their Facebook Page for updates each month. We enjoyed our adventures. You can find the entire gallery of images here. Let summer begin!
